Redhat5.2上でsamba-2.2.10による印刷

プリントサーバーのマシンを発作的にThinkpad 230CsからHinote Ultra CT475に変えた。どちらもOSはRedhat5.2Jだ。同じOSだからすぐに設定できるだろうと思い、気楽に始めたのだがハマッてしまった。理由はThinkpadのSambaはOSにバンドルされていた2.0系であったのに対し、Hinoteの方は自分でtar ballからコンパイルした2.2.10-ja-1.0だったためだ。ハマりから脱出するポイントはsmb.confファイル中のspoolssをdisableすることだったのだが、気付くのに半日かかってしまった。
最終的には設定ファイルは以下のようになった。

• /var/spool/sambaは書き込み権付きで作っておく
• if(input filter)は不要なのでコメントアウト(#)
• 普通はプリンタデバイスファイルは/dev/lp0だが私のマシンは/dev/lp1

後はWindows側のマシンにPIXUS860iのプリンタドライバーファイルをインストールすればOK
